Anna Parry was born in Tasmania, where she grew up with a keen appreciation of natural history and the environment, which continues to be a favoured subject for her artworks. Anna practised as a commercial illustrator before moving to Melbourne, where she completed a Bachelor of Fine Art with Honours, and a Masters of Fine Art, in drawing and painting from the Victorian College of the Arts. During her studies, she was awarded the John Vickery Drawing scholarship in 2008, and the Gary Grossbard Drawing Prize in 2009. In 2010 she received the Pigment Gallery Award and the Galloway Lawson Acquisitive Prize.
In 2013, Anna’s paintings of Tasmanian Devils were featured in antiThesis Journal, published through the University of Melbourne. Her work was selected for the fourteenth, fifteenth and sixteenth biennial exhibitions, The Art of Botanical Illustration at Domain House in 2018, 2020 and 2022. Examples of her watercolours and oil painting feature in the 2019 exhibition of Natural History Art, ReFraming Nature curated by Olivia Hutchison and Chiara Scafidi, presented by the Friends of The Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne.
Anna has a Diploma of Education majoring in art education and has taught art privately and within schools to students of all ages. Anna has regularly exhibited her work locally and interstate. Her works are held in Australian and International collections.
